Hi

I have a Wickes bathroom mixer tap and the cartridge has gone, i think its what they call a style mixer as it goes left and right (hot & cold) and up and down (on or off).

I have take the head of the tap of and exposed the top of the mixer however the collar that surrounds the mixer has no indents for a wrench its perfectly round, the cartridge itself seems to have locating holes for a removal tool!? How the hell does this thing come out............... Please help me not waste £40 on a plumber!

You have blown it son, my advice would be to go and get another tap from Wickes they have their name on it, and since it's a washbasin tap it will be a greater spotted bustard to change.:banghead::banghead:

Tool to remove the cartridge - £60-£70

Likelyhood of plumbers near you to have seen your post and put their prices up - Very.

Amount of help I'm prepared to force the members of the UKPF to give you - Absolutely none at all.

Thank you and good night!

Hey plumbers, paying you guys £40 to do what took you years to learn and possibly tens of thousands to train/equip for is a waste of money!
Classic, this post made my night 🙂

He'll be sat on the side of the motorway telling his missus how he saved a fortune repairing the car last week 🙂
