Monument 362W Pipe Ready Chrome Remover

I've got 16 TRV's and rads to change over and move and every one of them has pipe with the dreaded white paint on them, and some will need chrome removed from the pipes for soldering. They will not be going back exactly in the same place, so the pipe will need prepd and the paint removed first before making new connections, some of which will be soldered, and the towel rads are going back in new chrome pipe.

Rather than getting the file/gas torch/footprints out and around the pipe, has anyone used the tool in the post's title from Monument? This is one chore I find annoying and looking for a quicker solution.

Ok for removingremovin...do not use it to remove paint if you plan on using it to ever remove chrome again paint cliffs the teeth up

kinfe blade and some Emery sand paper

eg Emery Cloth Roll 25mm x 50m 60 Grit

Paint is easy but chrome isn't. When you have paint to remove from 16 x 2 = 32 pipes, it becomes a pain in the erse. 🙂

I just use my grips back and for on the pipe to remove paint. Emory cloth for any stubborn bits or a blow torch.

I just thought that after all these years, that someone would have invented a modern attachment that would have made this chore quicker and easier than grips and emery paper, especially for chrome plate removal.

No one has suggested not using the chrome tool for chrome, they just said it would be wrecked if you used it on paint.

Yeh as ric said. Don't use the tool to remove paint as it cloggs the teeth. But using it purely for Chrome and it's decent.

for paint there is a tool by PipeStrip, should scrape it off ok.

I ended up using an attachment I had for my Dremel.
