My dreadful day

Yes I may laugh at this in a week or two, but not now. The scenario I recieve a call yesterday afternoon can you please put two tiles up and cut them for me? Yes I will be there at 9 is that ok for you? Yes lovely.

I thought two tile what a job not even sure I can charge for it really, get there at 9 no answer. Go to a couple of neighbouring houses eventually one answers yes yes are you the tiler, er yes is my reply.

I am afraid she has gone out but I have a key, get in see its two floor tiles, right I will go to the merchant as I have not got the correct adhesive.

3/4 later back at the house customer says I cancelled last night no you didnt, we have quite a heated talk, and I explain I am writing my invoice for 1 hours @ £30.

I knock on the door she answers and promptly writes a cheque, we get talking, nice lady really. I explain I am 100% sure I recieved no call to cancel. 3 pm today it comes through, the message she had cancelled. I have rang to apolagies and to return her cheque but she now has Booked me in to put her bathroom cabinet up. I explained I will do that foc, but feel so bad about it, as all of me wants good service to be provided.

She has said she refuses the chq back as I am honest and have nothing to worry about, I just feel very dissapointed in myself.

Why are you disappointed with yourself? At the time you didn't know she had sent you a message to cancel so it was perfectly reasonable at the time to expect payment.

You did the right thing by contacting her to apologise and she appreciated it. Sounds like a good day to me.

She was in the right to complain she cancelled as she did leave you a message and you were right ot demand your time as you didnt receive the message
