Had a quick look at my mates boiler ,it was on lock out due to low pressure,to cut a long boring story short the expansion vessel is knackerd or under charged,removed case but could not see valve to test or refill ,no manual on site and i have not delt with one of these before, but it looks like you have to strip out most of the controls or take the boiler of the wall to get to the vessel
 
I think that would be the way i would do it if it was in a cuboard but its on show in the kitchen,looked at price of new ev and its nearly 300 pound!!!Gas man can you recharge the vessel ,do i need to strip the boiler to do this,thinking might be cheaper to put a greenstar junior in as its a 3 rad system !!
 
doubt you can recharge it due to age bear in mind ev can go anywhere in the system,have you thought about putting it in a cubord ?
 
Yea both good points mate!!and would solve the prob,I think its been in since 1993 so its not done bad ! good effort from potterton
