Hi guys, I seem to be progressing ok with my job, boss seems happy and I haven't been given the sack so all is going well! 😀

As I work on a self employed basis, I was hoping to start doing some private work when I have time. I did start a thread a little while ago asking for advice on this as I was unsure it would be acceptable - my manager did actually say on Friday it's fine to do my own jobs (even advised me not to use our regular merchants as they are too expensive) so I am going to get a load of leaflets and business cards made up for starters and see where it goes. I'm happy with my job where I am but if i can earn a bit more money it will help and will also help me learn being on my own.

Anyway, does anyone attend local networking events? or have you before?

Are they any good?

Just wondering if they would be worth checking out when I have time.

Thanks

Hi ash, I'm fairly sure Bods the man to ask. Seem to remember him singing the praises of networking events.

I found the networking events (BMI?) just a load of muppet architects sounding off about letters after there name trying to screw you down for a boiler service at their own house. Lots of carrot-dangling...

It depends on the sort of person you are. I don't like them and never seemed to get any benefit from them, but MickW only has to turn up to something like that for 10 minutes and comes away with a business lead.
