Hi all

Sorry if this question has been done to death but every case is different as they say.
I just had a combi installation (Ideal logic 35kw) and the hot water works fantastic but not the heating.
I turned it on for the first time this year and only 2 rads worked.
I went round and bled every rad and the pressure dropped and the boiler shut off.
So I opened the boiler valves to refill the system as instructed by the plumber and the boiler came back on but still only upstairs bedroom and downstairs hallway radiators work.
Now my plumber is on holiday.

Any ideas?

Re: New Combi installation, 2 radiators working, one up one downstairs the rest are c

Has the heating ever worked with the new boiler?

The guy tested the system and all the rads were working on test but that was about 3 months ago. I tried it recently and only the 2 rads work.

Shut down all the rads and open them one at a time to try and narrow down the problem. See if they work individually first

Someone said to turn off the radiators that work and turn the heating on which I tried but the others didn't get hot. I'll try turning them on one at a time.

You say you bled the rads until the boiler cut out, then you topped up the boiler.
Did you then repeat the process until you got water from every bleed point on every rad?
Oh and turn the heating off while you bleed them. might be handy to have someone at the boiler to keep topping up to 1bar while you bleed each rad.

wait for your plumber to come back, its summer. If he/she commissioned the boiler correctly all the rads should be working fine.

i assue you have turned up your boiler stat, trv's and room stat?

Thanks for all your replies. I figured it out, the input valve on the living room rad was closed. Opened it up and the rest of the house warmed up.

if you have one valve closed and the house goes cold then you really need another plumber to check out your system!!!

Re: New Combi installation, 2 radiators working, one up one downstairs the rest are c

sounds like he tried plumbing in a rad flow and retun onto a single pipe sytem, and didnt realise it was single pipe!!

Re: New Combi installation, 2 radiators working, one up one downstairs the rest are c

sounds as others have said like a one pipe system he should have changed to a 2 pipe system

Re: New Combi installation, 2 radiators working, one up one downstairs the rest are c

One pipe will will work fine on with all rads off. Sounds more like it was flow rad.
