Good evening. I am no a plumber by trade but I do know a little about plumbing. I have a problem with a central heating system which is getting me down and it seems no matter how much I spend the problem remains. I will try and keep the story so far as concise as I can.
Bolier is a Main System 18 HE. Sealed system
Boiler will fire up ok but only run for a very short time. It appears to get the water hot really quickly judging by the speed the temperature lights go on. Shuts off, cools to 50 and then starts the cycle again. Initially it was thought to be an air lock, then a blockage (power flush done). Then Main suggested it was the heat exchanger or the pump. Heat exchanger changed followed by a pump (pump is second hand). All of these things have been sorted by a qualified engineer, not me. Last one chose to not continue with the work as he could not think of anything else to try and didn't want to take any more money from me. At this point we were in excess of £1000. I had a look myself as I felt it was a circulation issue as with only the central heating on I could get all the rads hot and boiler was not shutting down. As soon as I switched to feed central heating and hot water together the boiler rand for a bit but got hot quickly and closed down. No warning lights flashing on the boiler panel just the temperature counting up and then back down as the water cooled each time. This situation has changed now and no matter which circuit is running it just goes for a matter of minutes and shuts down. I did buy a new Honeywell mid valve and fit it just in case it was that but it made no difference. Boiler is quite loud when heating and pump (inside boiler) is very hot all the time.
I do have a professional plumber looking at it on Tuesday but any pointers you may have would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
