Had a boiler swap booked into so i went to help the lad doing it. The fella was old he used to be a plumber when he was 15. But stopped when he was 16. Anyway pipework was crossing everywhere so cut back as much as we could and proceeded to do the job. The old boiler was on the floor. Hung the boiler asked him if he was happy with height. Noooooo what a stupid place to put it. So now the boiler is near enough ceiling level. Next he comes out and tells me he could do better than us himselves and starts pointing out pipework saying its a mismatch. Calling me a con artist !!!! Then i kindly broke it to him that the pipework he was talking about was the work he had previously done.

After that i looked at the toilet under the stairs. And catch a glimpse of his "basin"

Reminds of a prat I fitted a bath for once. I was dumb enough to humour him making me change the height about 3 times before install. Then once installed he said it was too high. I told him I'd lower it but didn't. He came back and said it was much better.

Just a complete pain in the bum. Everything was an issue he asked about every tool in our tool boxes went on like he was one of those engineers off here.

Make sure you tell him how to top it up, and when he forgets make sure you charge him. Reminding him over the phone how simple it is and how much your going t charge him.
Because he will forget.

I'd have made everything safe and walked out if he talked to me like that, in fact I wouldn't be working for a grunt like him in the first place.

ha ha, love that basin, you'll be seeing those in bars soon.

Another dole doser who was forced to do a 6 week multi skill and now he knows everything.

Had one once who kept telling us thats not to regs, thats not correct and so on. He had been on the dole for 10 years but was apparenty the best plumber his tutor had met. He soon shut up when my mate phoned the gaffa infront of him and said out loud " ive got a plumber here who wants a job, when can he start?"

he never mentioned plumbing again 🙂

Well that boiler got ripped down about 10 mins ago. I can honestly say i think thats the first time ive ever had to do that. There was no temp stat on the cylinder. So went to add one free of charge and the fella and his family started saying i dont know what im doin, in a con artist, im a fraud, im a cowboy.

Take your stuff and leave. So i did.

"But leave them bricks in that you blocked the old flue up with"
