Hi,
I'm pulling my hair at the mo due to the noise in my airing cupboard.
We have recently had our system changed from coal to oil and that therefore had to cut pipes and relocate them to the new boiler.
However we thought that the system would need time to settle in, so we put up with the noise however it doesn't seem to of changed.

The noise sounds like rushing water, plus there is air in the system, and alot of bubble and squeeking.

We have drained the pump but there was no hissing sound.

We think it is to do with the heating system.

Plus we have looked in the header tank, the water level had dropped so we filled it back up but there was pipe that was not under the water, should this be????

Could it be a blockage?

How can the air be released out of the system?

Any help would be much appreicated.

>Plus we have looked in the header tank, the water level had dropped so we filled it back up

it should fill itself by the ball valve.

>but there was pipe that was not under the water, should this be????

if your talking about the vent pipe then no.

>Could it be a blockage?

is the tank water warm?
is the vent pipe drawing in air ?
was the system flushed ?
is the pump speed to high ?

can be many reasons but would need more info.

if your not happy call the installers back.

air should release out of the vent pipe to the f/e tank in loft.

Hi,
Air can be a big problem in heatin systems AAv's (automatic air vents) can be helpful, but will not cure the problem!

There are a few things you need to address.

Firstly you need to look at manufatures instructions. Is the system as per manufacturing instructions?
Did you power flush the system with chemicals?
Is pump appropriate for system, correct orientation and cold feed/vent pipe connected correctly?
Is boiler kettling? Possibly boiler needs setting up.
Contact an OFTEC engineer (with a good reputation) to help you work through it.

Regards Andy
