Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been
with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth
records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as
having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than
you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing
regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual
harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using
mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student,
only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that
they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to
administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents
when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and
criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar
in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise
that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilt a little in her lap,
launched a lawsuit and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone.

RIP

To many people today know their rights but ignore their responsibilities.

Yep. Another favourite saying of mine - not original, but I can't remember the source:

"For a man to receive something for which he has not worked, there must be a man who has worked for something which he has not received."

Are we not getting a bit deep for a Thursday tea time ?

Fair point. Here's a picture of a cat.

But hopefully survived by a great NHS, a police force answerable to the people, a nation who looks after their pensioners and the poor. This is what common sense, I am sure would want to leave to us all ,plus more

You missed the elder sibling, Shame; his tomb was desecrated by I-feel-your-pain.

The above are actually interlopers who have never rested at the abode of the deceased. They are all the children of Ist and Ism.

When I look back in history I think the rot set in when slavery was abolished, and exporting the troublemakers who encouraged others to organize themselves into Unions was outlawed.

This was clearly a turning point in British history, which allowed and encouraged the selfishness of the workingman to take over. Which in turn rubbed off on women, who started chaining themselves to railings and demanding all sorts of Rights that were inappropriate for someone of their standing.

Little wonder that children became unruly and refused to work up chimneys, run errands, and generally know their place in society.

This early outbreak of self-interest and rebellion among the working classes was compounded by Beveridge who took away the incentive to work, i.e. what better incentive is there for the common man to work than the threat of starvation. Take away the risk of poverty and you sentence the common man to a life of fecklessness and idleness. That’s the trouble with these do-gooders, they fail to see the full consequences of their actions!

The do-gooders who fostered this rot in society should hang their heads in shame, but do they: NO THEY DON”T!!! It makes me so angry!!!!

Education, education, education, what a load of nonsense!!!

Surely it’s obvious to anyone that if you educate people they will think that they are entitled to more than their share?

What is wrong with the politicians who have ruined this country???

How can you expect people to know who their betters are if they have all kinds of subversive ideas pumped into their brains by middle-class teachers who are clearly on some kind of mission to spread discontent throughout society.

Having stopped and alienated those teachers who did try to beat the work ethic into the little brats, the do-gooders have now stopped parents giving the little sods a good hiding at home – so WHAT flaming hope is there?

Free health care has lead to more debauchery, and encouraged the plebs to eat and drink themselves into oblivion … its ABSOLUTE MADNESS!

What was sold to the common man as progress has just lead to more people being dissatisfied with their lot – they expect to have a job, a house, and even afford to be able to breed more undeserving cretins with help from the State – it’s DISGUSTING, and often keeps me awake at night!

Margaret tried to right the wrongs of the do-gooders, but look what happened to her!

It’s just AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!

Thanks heavens we have IDS to put the plebs back in their proper place!!!
