Hi all,

I have an OSO Direct 210 hit water cylinder installed in my home, with 2 switches (on/off; and boost). The boiler is for hot water only (rads are electric).

In the 5 years that I’ve lived at this property, I’ve never once turned the boiler off; however, with soaring energy prices, I’m wondering if I should be looking to have the boiler on a timer.

Firstly; is anyone able to advise whether there is in fact any likely benefit to installing a timer… Or whether it is actually best to just leave it on all the time. If on a timer, I would want for there to be hot water in the morning (e.g. 07:00-10:00) and in the evening (e.g. 18:00-21:00).

If a timer does make sense, any advice on a suitable solution, would be much appreciated… I would want a system that is both programmable and Wi-Fi enabled, so that I could manage via an app on my phone.

I’ve attached photos of the current set up.

Many thanks for reading this; and for any guidance you might have.

My Friend has a google nest and she says it is really good. She turns it on say an hour before she goes home and it works really well for her.

Thank you… However, the plumber that serviced our boiler seemed to think that Nest wasn’t the right solution for our needs.

As I understand it, Nest is good for central heating; whereas my boiler is only for hot water 🤷🏽‍♂️
