Hate it when family call me up and say ive no hot water when ive not even seen the problem

Any way. Gravity fed, ch is fine, no hot water, cylinder changed today by a local lad. every tap is a mixer so hard to blast mains cold - im thinking air but any help appreciated and how to remedy on a mixer if you think its air

ooooh!

My response would have been to get back whoever changed the cylinder, the weekend is upon us, and whoever changed it hasn't done the full job if they haven't ensured it was working properly before leaving!

But then I just hate it when my family ring full stop!🙂 🙂 🙂

Do they have hot and cold to the washing machine? If so just connect one hose between the two.

Who changes a cylinder and doesnt check water still comes out the taps?

Are you sure the don't mean it's not getting hot?

Hi water tight, sorry, they have water but no hot, Im even thinking give it a chance to heat up? as it is a gravity system

the coil in a modern cylinder is very restrictive (really for a fully pumped system) if he has left the gravity system very little chance of getting good (any?) circulation.

hi Bill, cheers mate but confused a bit, i may have explained badly. the ch is fine, hw (in terms of heat) is non existant but flow fine, told them to leave over night to warm through and call me after saturday kitchen if theres a prob

So there's no point changing cylinders in gravity systems?

Yes, but you have to make sure that the coil is suitable for gravity or convert the hot water side to pumped. Plumb Centre do a centercyl that states its only suitable for pumped, however it comes with 1" connections and a full bore coil, I have fitted several of these to gravity systems without an issue. However the first one I did I made sure the plumb centre would pay for fitting a pump if it didn't work, the bloke behind the counter 'gauranteed' it would work, so I got him to put his money where is mouth was.

sorry I read gravity feed as gravity primarys to the hot water, @ watertight if you put a modern cylinder on gravity primarys your asking for trouble, it may work but then again it might not, you can still get cylinders with coils suitable for gravity primarys.

Did you ask them if the flow and returns at the cylinder where warm, to give an indication of circulation? Also does it have an immersion, if that was to be on for half an hour it would confirm that theres an issue with circulation on the gravity side.

flow and returns seemed ok, hot feed was heating up, well do i was told. dont think the guy realised that he wouldnt get instaneous hw

Just invite them around for a bath, And get the man back. Once you adopt the system it will be your problem for ever.
