Hi, I'm looking for a pencil flame tip for my Rothernberger Superfire 2. Rothernberger stopped making them six months ago. Would anyone know where I can find some old stock or a suitable alternative. Many thanks.

if you want a pencil flame id suggest a benzomatic pencil flame torch tbh. never seen a pencil flame on a benz/rothy trigger torch. They did/do a brass smaller flame nozzle one but its not a pencil flame.

So are these pencil burners any good then? What difference does it make apart from over heatinh the fitting

I want it for brazing bicycle frame lugs. You need a fine flame to clean up the shoreline. I've used Oxy/Acetylene until now. But it's just too expensive for amateur framebuilders.

Thanks Steve but will that fit a Superfire 2 torch? If it only works with Propane I dont think Propane is hot enough for brass.

you wont get a high power'd pencil flame from a superfire 2 imo.

you will have to use oxgyen/gas mix for a small flame to be hot enough.

have you seen how they braze up bike frames with those brass billet lugs?

No. What's a brass billet lugs??
when the seat clamp gets assembled a piece of brass (billet) about 15mmx12mm sq gets pushed into the clamp bolt recess. the fitting is then dipped into that white powdery flux type past (cant remember the name of it) then it is heated by 5 propane torches with a flame not unlike a standard superfire torch but from all 5 angles for around 2minutes on a carousel. job done!. no drips or run out.
i had a job once at 'Raleigh' as a pipe fitter and a spell making and inspecting the frame welds.lol

Slightly off topic (but not totally).

Went into a Grahams last week. They had a Superfire 3 on their shelves. Think they do various heads for those?

I don't normally go to Grahams, I was after some 35mm comp fittings, and PTS wanted to charge me stupid money. £28+VAT a tee. I paid £8.80 at Grahams and I don't even have an account with them.

I went into your store Ray (if you're reading) no tee's in stock.
