Evening all, over the last 17 years of my plumbing and heating life i have purchased alot of hand tools. Most of which i still have ie good quality spanners etc. The one piece of equipment that i cannot seem to be happy with is the good old pipeslice. i have tried them all but cannot seem to find one that will last longer than 6 months. Any recommendations would be most grateful.

Rothenberger via plumbcenter, as I return then under 12 months old, they swap them, as long as you can produce a dated invoice for the purchase....like you, even taking care with them and oiling them etc, I am lucky to get 6 months, don't get me started on the dire 28 mm ones!

I like the Monument ones as they are hard wearing. Like all tools, a pipeslice requires maintenance. Strip it apart and smother the inside in machine grease and renew the cutting wheel regularly and it will last for a very long time.

Yeah monument for me too, like system said maintain it and it'll last . Why do you keep getting new ones?

i've only used my new monument 28mm cutter a handful of times and it's already tramming. Usually happens at the most akward of cuts where your already at a stretch lol

Pipeslices have never been great. They do their job fine for a while but none of them last no matter how well you look after them. They are not made to last.
I tend to use my ridgid 150's more and you don't get wan kers cramp (rsi) using them either.

new one for new copper and old ones for cutting up painted copper going to scrappies, just charge the next custard having an install for a new one under misc parts!

Kopex, original and best IMHO.

The Forge Steel ones from screwfix are very good too. Same as Bacho.

Remarkably even if a little large my forge steel ones have been the best (i have NO idea how)

however can anyone give a good 28mm? I just use my milwaukee slice atm for it.

At least it doesn't spiral 🙂

I bought a 28mm monument pipeslice recently because I knew that other than that I'd be cutting the pipes with a hacksaw blade.
I was surprised at how light it was compared to my old 15 & 22 mm slices and even more surprised that it cut old thick 28mm copper with less effort than cutting 15mm with a pipeslice.

Monument and for my old tired aching hands, my Milwaulkee CP12 battery pipe slice. Not as quick but stops aching hands.

I tell you why it's light...because it's made of plastic!!

At least my one is. It's a pain to use now too, takes forever to cut.

Kopex are the best in my opinion. Treated myself to a new 22mm slice today from Toolstation, a monument one. My old Kopex one is taking too long to cut, and I couldnt' be arsed to start taking it apart! £12 bargain.

Just got new 15 & 22mm kopex slices from city plumbing & they gave me a 28mm kopex free all for £19 inc vat..bargain of the year for me

Kopex are brilliant, although Monument are similar - their 15 & 22 mm slices are okay & their all metal hinged 28mm slice does the job, if a bit harder to use.
Bahcos are nice in the hand as rounded outer edges & as they are painted orange - easier to find, BUT they can spiral cut if you are not careful!

Hot some bahco slices the other week, do the job and seem not to burr the inside of the pipe so much as my kopex ones.
