I started buying £5 a pop slices from skirlington market 3 years ago they last a good 6 months then a wheel change (the come with a spare) then get another 6 month out of them then bin and on to a new one that's all if I don't loose them first! I have found Rothenberg to be the best but for a 5er I can use the cheep one ha ha

For anyone who, likes the Bahco efforts, the forge steel ones from screwfix which are £18 for the pair, are exactly the same, but red. I've found them to be very good and are my preferred choice now, although I still keep Kopex in the box just in case.

ive tried most, and ive given up on kopex/rothenberger ones. I stick to monument, a shop near me was selling them for £5 a time so i got a few. As for 28mm the monument i have is 5 years old and still cutting perfect, the kopex 28mm i brought first only lasted a couple of weeks, it was a bag of dog do. I put it in the skip.

the bacho/generic ones seem quite good too, i have the 8 and 10mm ones and they cut very good.

i also have a plastic irwin 15mm slice which i paid £3 for, it cuts fine but i dont think it would last long under heavy use.

I'm the same, Kopex and Rothenberger slices gave me no end of bother. I bought a plumbcenter branded slice the other week and am really surprised by its performance!

See how long it lasts though.

Oh, and my slices get a good squirt of wd40 at the end of each day.

as a mintance plumber by day mine dont get a lot of use, i oil regulary , replace wheels , and i have a tray in the bottom of my toolbox whitch i keep them in , so they dont get thrown a bout, they last me about 18 months! my old boss didnt let me use the c type ones as they reduced the pipe diamater to much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we all had to use a rothenberger rotrac pipe cutter!

I can't see what the fuss about reducing the diameter is. Most of the time the slight reduction is neither here nor there. If size is critical then just use a reamer and open it out again. Seemples.
