Plastic Bath Tap Puzzle

Evenin' all, and greetings from rainy manchester.
I have a wee problem with one of my bath taps, and i'm hoping someone might be able to identify it, so as i can find some spare bits for it. This may be a bit of a challenge, as no-one i've spoken to seems to have come across an all-plastic bath tap before....

Basically, what's happened is that the plastic casting forming the tap head/gland nut has split in twain along the screw thread.

Notable points:
It is of all plastic construction; the only metal within the entire tap unit is a metal washer and the screw holding the tap head on. Even the spindle is plastic.
The tap handle/cover is oversize & chunky, enabling an elderly person (eg, the previous owner) to operate with ease, and is of dark translucent plastic.
The tap body is of white/cream plastic.

There are no manufacturers markings, however they are identical to item 280611092886 on eBay.

Good evening Mr Burns and welcome I have seen this type of tap in some council properties in the `80s I believe them to have been made by Opella who now only seem to make cisterns and flush valves why not just have them changed for some more robust brass ones chrome plated 🙂regards turnpin

Just had a look on ebay. The last time I seen a pair like that was in a caravan. Not dissabled.
Why dont you post a message to the seller on ebay asking where he came by them.

I've seen them before but I would just change them for some new ones (brass)

Turnpin is spot on, seen loads of them in council properties.
You really should change the them, but be aware that the tap tail tends to be shorter than brass taps so you might want to pipe up to them with flexis.

Thanks folks - just the info i was looking for.
Tracked them down as the Opella/Castalia 500 series - first manufactured in 1979 by IMI.
They now appear to be discontinued.

Yeah, i could change them, but i'm intending to gut & refit the bathroom this summer, so was just looking for a temporary fix.

You may need tap tail extensions for a contract tap.
