Just curious what you guys use plumbers mait for, I've never used it I always use silicone but should it be using p m on anything??

i use it on gratings on showers, sinks and baths, also use it to seal cast soil pipes etc, as long as its used for its purpose it is great stuff, its only when you use it on the wrong thing that you get problems

It's better than silicone for sanitary ware as it's non setting. Also great for bedding in sinks to vanity units.

Silicone is over used nowadays and I hate seeing toilets and basins fixed with it instead of screws/bolts.

i use a sausage of mait on top of pedestal before dropping basin on. Provides a cushion so pot on pot contact won't result in a cracked pedestal or bowl if someone leans on it after installation
I use it for basin grates but not for baths simply cos basins don't move but baths move when getting in and out and hot water makes mait mushy and I've seen em leak as a result.
