fitting bathrooms and hanging rads ! job available only if honest and reliable plus no mobile phone addicted plumbers please !
wages as little as £50 /per day for the first two weeks after that will be pay rice available only if there is drive to learn and become a plumber
contract work in red bridge (Essex)and south london + privet customers work in west london

Hi SafeGasInstal,

What areas in South London are you looking at? I'm probably going to be free from 1st October and would be prepared to work for as little as £50 a day for a while providing I was gaining good experience (money can't buy that). I have my own tools, van, and very reliable - I can provide references to that effect if need be. However I do live in West Sussex so maybe a little too far from you.

As far as my experience goes, I've obtained my level 2 NVQ (not just the technical cert). I've only had experience in fitting a few bathrooms and hanging radiators as I've mainly done smaller jobs - e.g. fitting taps, replacing ball valves, sorting blocked wastes etc but I am a quick learner and very methodical in my work.

Not sure if it's what you're after or not but I'd be more then happy to meet up or phone you to discuss further.
Pete.

It will be every where I believe , I is a housing association jobs ! I think it will be one day team job ! In and out in a day !

Only me, but I'm not free at the moment! Thought you'd be inundated after all the threads where people offer to work for free!

Everybody wants a job Stan, but few want or are able to put a hard shift in especially on 1 day installs. You'll need a good partner or you'll burn yourself out. Hope you find one.

I cant believe there isn't 100's of people biting your arm off for this i hope something like this becomes available in my area when i am approaching my last few months in the army. I still have at least 13 months left but would be more than willing to give up my weekends for free to learn.

most of the jobs will be ,conversion from open to seal system +valves ! and full installs ! will let you know how it will go ! have a guy coming but need one more to train and later do 5 a week !

Cracking opportunity for someone! Im struggling myself, had no luck with cvs and letters, can't give myself away.... Wish I was closer.

Problem is MONEY, not as simple as saying '100's of people etc.' if the job pays £50 a day then thats fine, if thats all the poster can afford etc or all he has to pay etc and this is not a moan at either of you.

I for one couldn't work for £50 a day simple. Cost of diesel etc, insurance etc. If someone has a pot of cash behind them to suppliment there income fine, this job is perfect for them. If they haven't well.................

understand that completely as the reason i am able and willing to work weekends for free is because i already have a full time job. If i was jobless i would take £50 a day, would have to tough it out most weeks and realise there wont be much left in the pot after expenses have been paid but 250 quid a week is not bad at all. As you say it would be hard for most without a pot of cash to help but is a good opportunity to learn the trade.

this is a two weeks probation rate , as I did say in my early post ! I am NOT looking for a gas safe register competent person to work as a team ,looking for a plumbers mate some one willing to learn and get hands on the job ! I will be doing the install and need some one to shift tools and clean after me and drill flue how and put rads on the wall ,and change valves which is ideal opportunity for some one to LEARN , I have some one coming with me and he is a member here ,he did work with me on the new build job which I did back in July, but new build is not my cup of tee to be honest !
So I am looking for another guy to come along and join Safe Gas Install .

Hi There
I've been reading your thread, and I would jump at the chance myself but you are too far away. I'm near Hastings, but yes you all are right, I would of thought you would be tripping over yourself with people wanting a chance.

is this job still going, i live in hampshire on the borders of west sussex takes me an hour to get to south london dont know if thats to far. im currently coming to the end of my tech cert level 2 and need to find work to complete my nvq. i have working experience on site as a labourer and have a cscs card, own van and tools. im willing to work hard

You might have to put the rate up as the minimum wage is going up next month, unless of course you want a youngster where you can really pay them pittance, however they are unlikely to have their own van, let alone be able to afford the insurance or fuel to run the thing. I take it at these rates, your buying breakfast everyday?

hello sgi this is something i would be willing to do but as of now i have just started level2 and in my 1st year doing a day release .
im a fully qualified tiler and own my own company (business partner in the company is a plumber) but as we work on batrooms and kitchens every day taking out and putting in bathroom suites is a breeze the hardest bit to me is the pipework and drainage is this something you would offer as training ?

sorry mate ,I am heating engineer and most of the work 90% is Gas heating related , drainage I do not touch my self and pipe work you mean how to run it or principals of systems lay out ? over all I am looking for some one that is interest to learn gas heating work !
thank you

For anyone else looking at this.
What is on offer is work installing heating systems or rather boiler swaps
It won't be suitable for CC's as it is hard work and you need to have a good bit knowledge in place.
It is not work to gain brownie points for an NVQ or ACS.
If you fk up or can't manage it Stan will have to bail you out which will mean a 16hr shift for him and a hair pull and no wages for you.
The money being offered is probably more than you are on now (excluding the se guys who have differing opinions of what is a good rate)

I can't believe this
There is at least 1 new (plumber) joins on here every few days saying looking for work and desperate then a member offers someone a good opertuinty but as they know it's going to be hard work very little interest what a joke
Stan I hope you get sorted might be better looking elsewhere for someone as think most of the ones on here have not got a clue what work is just want easy money

yes mate no one has contacted me as yet ,last time when I did look for someone , one guy did contact me and he is working with me , he is a good worker and I need some one to help him as some times we do 4th floor flats and there is no elevator and you can imaging the amount of time I sent him to the van but he is a good lad and gets double of what I offered on this post !
If I was going to offer 100 a day there will be many replays bask as every one wants good money without having the experience and knowledge , but I an waiting to see if a true plumber wanna be will contact me to get train as a gas fitter !

To be frank, I can't see many, if any wanting to take up this great offer of work. They have to provide their own van, tools, be self employed, it's not going to be an 8hr day....All for £50 a day! Reading between the lines, this isn't a I'm going to train you to be a plumber job, it's a I have a lot of work and I need a labourer, to do all my humping and running around for 2 weeks.

What is wrong with you people replaying to my threads that I am looking for some tradesman , all full with negative emotions on there posts , come on lads cheer up and do you self a favour and be positive , been positive do not cost you a penny !

What is this got to do with you is my Q ? Eat your pennants and stay munkey and do not replay to my post !And go and sort your self out you are full of negative vibes all over your posts ! 🙂

When i am out the army, if i see any opportunities such as this i won't need to read to it twice i'd snap it up. People cant be as desperate to learn and earn as they would have us believe!

Firstly appologies, if you think the post was negative, maybe it was, but maybe it wasn't. All I have done is read your original post, in what you were asking for.
My opinon and I'm perfectly free to express it, is your asking for too much for too little, see your original post. You want them fitting bathrooms for you, hanging radiators for you, provide transport for you as well as tools, travel between Essex, South London & West London. For £50 a day? It's certainly not a living wage, it's certainly not a fair wage for what you are expecting from them either. It more than likely won't comply with minimum wages legislation if their over 21, because of the very nature of the work. Unless of course the work is a crash bang wallop job. I think you mentioned somewhere 5 boilers a week? So no 8 hour days then?
Your not training anyone, training is done at college, experience is done on site. Many a employer loves to pay next to nothing for labour, but in most cases, it just shows the business and the employer for what they are. Whether you give them a 50p wage rise at the end of the 2 week period is irrelivent. Your not paying a fair wage for what you want fact!

I do not have need for your apology at all ,as you have been more then arrogant in your posts and unfair ! You do not know me and my work to give your opinion over anything AT ALL , so please keep quiet and is better so say nothing then what you have done !
you are in london and we could have helped each other but after this type of comments over my self for who you KNOW ABSOLUTELY nothing just rings the bell what type of personality you have 🙂

Can I just state on this matter that £50 per day is a fair wage, this is coming from somebody who would love this opportunity, I live not too far away from west london, but essex would be a 3 hour drive for me.

What he is offering is £250 per week, this is £1000 per month, for any young person with no family, this is superb, it would mean that they have food and a roof over their head, whilst learning a trade that will keep them in good stead for life.

however the person with negative comments on here, firstly, this guy has given his time and money to give a person a job, secondly this is the expected starting wage for anybody going into plumbing and will consist of getting tools out of the van all day, not exactly hard work for £50 per day.
and thirdly, the op should be thanked for giving back to the community, how many gas engineers can say that they would employ 1, let alone 2 people and train them up, not many.
the op obviously isnt rubbish or he wouldnt have so much work, he has worked hard to get where he is and comments like yours should not be expressed.

they do not help or encourage other plumbers to do the same thing.

like said before, nothing good to say dont say nothing at all.

jase 158 where do you live ,if you get your self to my home I will drive you to work and back ,this is what I do at the moment with my other plumbers mate ! do you have a cscs card ?

£50 a day is a fair rate i must say, not as if you would be expected to be doing all the hard work for that, a plumbers mate is not a plumber, its a fancy word for labourer, sure you can progress and become as good as a plumber through experience, i know a heating engineers mate who is one of the best workers in my old company, was better than the 2 lazy heating engineers, he never complained about the different salary or anything like that, plus he will no doubt be rewarded with a pay rise for being such an asset to the company.

after all a plumbers mate pretty much does the apprentices job, and they learn through experience, only difference is the college but you can buy your own reference books for the theory part.

I'm from Northamptonshire but I can travel for the 2 week trail period and depending on the wage thereafter and the amount of work I will move closer to your location. I have a couple of years plumbing/heating/gas experience, NVQ2 plumbing, own Gas Safe Registration, CIS number, CSCS card in the post, tools and transport. I start a NVQ3 soon (2 evenings and week for 2 years) but am looking to move closer to London and this could be an ideal situation.
Any more information would be welcomed.

if dave don't get it and the job is still up for grabs in 12 months i'll be offering my services! (cscs should be here next week too) lol :icon10:

I'm gonna be in London tomorrow and was hoping to pop by about 4:30 if your about on Streatham then?

Would just like to say anybody who turns their nose up at this opportunity is bonkers!!! And to say 50 quid a day isnt enough is rubbish! I started as a ventilation fitters mate on 35quid a day and had to pay my own train fare every day! And i was STILL grateful.

Hi SGI, I am in buckinghamshire, I dont have cscs, but just waiting for NVQ certificates to come so that I can apply.

Where abouts do you live, when would I be able to start.

[DLMURL="http://www.unitetheunion.org/pdf/IssuedPayRates20112012Prom163A3.pdf"]JIB plumbing rates for 2011/12 [/DLMURL]if as the post requires, your self employed, and you need to provide your own tools, plus your own van, not forgetting if you are self employed you also need your own public liability insurance. Then the pay rate needs to be higher and reflective of what is required. Anything less is cheap labour. I don't really give a toss whether you like my post, these are the facts. I'll give you credit for paying peanuts as there are many businesses only to willing to offer "trial periods" with no pay, only to terminate the employment when the work quiets down considerably.

If thats the case will you give any surplus wages you earn to charity as these people have determined exactly what you should earn?

Anything over what they say should not be allowed either.

And theoretically he has stuck by these guidelines

8 x 6.24 per hour = 49.92 per day, he was offering £50 per day

Minimum wage for a plumber 14.55 p/h
Maximum wage 15.89 p/h
maximum wage per week £596 p/w

Unless you work over time.

Really, wonder how many people complain when they earn £3000 per week

Sorry but this is a load of rubbish, don't know what this applies to. but a difference of £1.40 per hour for gas experience and certification. don't think so.

Only if he is employing them on the cards will he be, as they are required to provide, transport, tools, own p/l insurance then the rate he is paying is low.

he has asked for somebody with a van, so they are not paying out, tools also already got and P/L insurance is under his as he is contractor. and again if you are self employed you already have.

only thing you are pying for is transport which is understandable as the experience is your reward for paying for fuel. £10 per day is nothing really in exchange for experience, can't buy that at a training centre. I know hundreds of people who would quite literally cut off their right hand for this opportunity. I get 4-5 call a month for this sort of thing and you are spitting it back in his face, how rude.

Gordon Ramsey, isn't really a good example after all he is forever closing restaurants down because they make no money. So just what is a fair trial rate? It certainly isn't one where you have to provide your own transport to the employer @ £50 a day. Anyway for all of you willing to work for this measly amount of money per day, I'll up it to £80 plus cover your parking, congestion and chuck in £35 fuel allowance....

really dont think it has anything to do with anyone except gassafe install and whoever he agrees to work with him,if there happy to work for what he,s offreing then thats up to him if you have no job i think most people would work for £250 a week av had lads asking me to work for £30 a day to give them experience but due to the way work is at them moment i carnt do it but if thats what they will work for thats up to them and if you have the work to pay them more you will anyone who,s learning will be happy to work for £50 a day

Ivor bates wise up SGI is offering someone £50 per day as a trial period personally I think this is a very fair offer there is plenty of lads offering to work for nothing
If you want to take someone on with the rates your saying fair play to you again another great offer experience is the key to any good plumber IMHO you learn on site not in a classroom
So for anyone on this forum if your offering someone work you should be thanked not knocked for it

im working for a firm the now self employed and i'm getting £100 a day, thats me using my own van and finishing about half 5 6 most days, trying to get another job as the money is complete crap and i'm travelling to another city so at least £100 a week in diesel

going by the new overtime hours of 40 per week, I was recently working on site through an agency and was working 48 hours at standard rate, should i have been getting payed overtime for those 8 hours ??

oh well ,what can I say this world is full of people full of negativity !
by the way I did not see your post that you look for plumbers mate here ....or I you would not bother as the people here do not deserve a chance ....by the way Dave who was working with me last week had a wage of £120 a day as he was good worker and if he need a job again will have him and will train him as he still have lots to learn him self !

If the agency is charging the contractor an overtime rate, then yes.

Ooops nearly missed this one, so who's been telling you they earn £3k a week? lol

I would just like to add that anyone who is genuinely wanting to gain experience and learn the industry would not be foolish enough to turn this offer down. I myself would chew both my arms off just to get as sniff at gaining the opportunity that SGI is offering and work my hard if i did...shame i dont have my own transport at the moment though as i live relatively close...damn!

can't believe this jobs still up for grabs! My cscs card is in post to me today which will give me more options of where i can apply. I don't know what a decent wage is for the type of work being offered by SGI but i do know it's more than you'd be earning signing on so i don't know what all the fuss is about.

I can't believe that stan keeps asking and hardly any takers what a joke there is people on here every other day saying they want experience and will do anything to get it then a good member asks who wants experience they get knocked for doing it by other members utter nonsense and a total joke

It's the sudden realisation that they've got to work for some money, as opposed to seeing it come in while watching those morning auction programmes on telly (sorry, I don't know the names as I've no time to watch 'em)! It's also the stupid state system that gives such generous benefits that it seems it's not really worth going out to work.

Lol at these replies. your probally better off just recruiting someone in ruslip so he can jump in your van to your jobs you seem to travel quite abit. i doubt a poor apprentice can afford the travel TFL is a joke now and well exspensive.

Hi SGI,
Can you pm me so i can send you my cv. Im in the process of getting my cscs, i have some experience with domestic plumbing, installing pipework, showers etc and have done a fair bit of labour on housing renovation amongst other stuffwork quite a while back. I was made redundant last year, decided to get back into building/construction and I currently only have my plumbing tech cert but am very willing to work hard and learn. If the work is still available when i get my cscs and can sort some transport for my missus then i can use our transit tourneo van, as unfortunately she works and uses it at the moment. Im looking for a hatchback atm for her to use. My van is lpg converted so not too bad on fuel if i remember to fill it 😛.
In any event i would definitely jump at the chance to gain experience and more knowledge as soon as i can be available, so if you are still after someone i will let you know asap. In the meantime, i can send you my cv and any other info you would like to see. I have some pics of recent work done if its useful.
If i was available right now and had my cscs, id jump at the chance for the opportunity.
I live in west kent btw, so dont think travel is too bad. id be happy to start off early anyway.

Many thanks

Paul

I must say that I would jump at a chance like this myself but to far and now working.
I got lucky in my area for help with my 6089 and he was really happy with me that he is willing to help me with my gas now.
I did my 6089 for free and I'm working now but being released as and when gas work comes in so my employer can get the rewards of extra work once I'm done.
I am shocked by how little a response has come off it as I also not long ago was pleading for help via yellow pages and walking into offices and asking.

I'd be in there accepting if I was still with my ex as she didn't live to far from there, but living in South Staffs its a long and expensive commute.

SGI, tell um they can have a break to watch Jeremy Kyle and they will be falling at your feet.

Psition is taken , have got really good lad working with us ! Really smashing them jobs . Boiler and 10 rads every day !Will be like this to x mas (I hope ) just can not fined time to do my own work and work all weekends !Is funny how when I was looking for a mate to join my team there was not even one person interest !
