Plumbing - Career change

Hi, I'm 45years old and looking for a career change. Looking at part time college course from September and specifically the City and guilds level 2 plumbing. Can I work as a domestic plumber with this and gain employment on a half decent salary or as plumbers mate even?

Would be difficult. Tiling would be easier and good tilers and mastic people are always in demand.
