A

all shookup

I live in a bungalow and have always suffered poor hot water pressure to the three taps. However, the boiler man came yesterday to service the Johnson and Starley warm air boiler and cure the kettling noise. He had to isolate the hot water supply in the loft and drain off the hot water tank, To do this he isolated the supply from the large cold water header tank feeding the copper cylinder. The result was that we have less pressure than ever.

Two questions please...

Is it a simple problem that I or a plumber could solve?

Is it possible to get a pump fitted on the hot water supply from the cylinder in the loft that will boost hot water pressure to all three taps and if so, what type of pump would I need please?

thanks

Hello,

It's possible that he hasn't opened the valve fully, it broke or some crud has got stuck in the pipe. Call him back to resolve rather than touch yourself.

It is possible to install a pump, this link should help you: [DLMURL="http://www.stuart-turner.co.uk/pump-assist/choosing-the-right-pump/"]Choosing The Right Pump | Stuart Turner Pumps[/DLMURL]

welcome to the forum.
there is also the possibility that the pipe has some trapped air so not giving as full a flow as before.

your pressure will always be poor in a bungalow on gravity pressure.
Is the cold tank in the loft on a raised platform?
getting the tank higher by 1 metre will increase the pressure by 0.1bar

Thanks for advice, we gave up on the boiler man as he was here an extra two hours trying to find out why the loss of pressure. He said he only closed and reopened the valve to the cylinder and it was now fully open.He said he had blown down the pipes an all seem clear. He admitted he wasn't a plumber. The good news was that he had sorted the boiler kettling out.

The cold tank is above the hot water cylinder on a stand. however, there is not enough room to raise it any higher. I have just contacted Turners and they suggest a Monsoon universal single will improve supply to all three taps and is easy to fit.

Do you know if theirs is the only pump on the market that will do the job?
