Potteron Suprima Making Loud Banging noises at night

I hope someone can help...because this problem is driving me nuts.

I have a Potteron Suprima located in my garage with a Honeywell Frost Stat attached.

For the past week, the boiler has been making loud banging noises in the midle of the night when the neither the hot water or the heating are set to come on. It lasts for about 10-20 secs then the boiler lights flashes red. The system only works again by pressing the reset button.

When the heating or hot water come on via the timer, then there are no banging noises at all... it only seems to happen in the middle of the night, when presumably the frost stat kicks in.

I've had a plumber out but he seems completely stumped, as he could not recreate the problem.

I should also mention that a month ago I had the system powerflushed as 2 rads weren't working and also a new electronic timer installed. These were carried out by the same qualified plumber.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Try turning the frost stat off and see if the problem stops.

Frost stat may be operating but theres no path for the water to go (both valves shut hw and ch ) maybe also bypass has been closed/not open enough if fitted

yep frost is firing boiler switch live, probably without powering zone valve motor(s) pump will run as they are wired from boiler on this model......if......wired correctly, get someone in who knows heating wiring!
