Potterton Performa 24 Eco HE CH NOT WORKING HELP PLEASE

Hi Guys hope you can help
I have a Potterton Performa 24 Eco HE boiler
its been working fine about 3 weeks ago the hot water stopped working
looked on here
I removed the heat exchnager cleaned it out refitted and the
water has never been so hot 🙂

🙁 the last few days the CH is not working correctley
rads are just warm when you turn the stat up the boiler kicks
in flame lights etc but only for say 30 sec may be a min
then cuts off again

the hot water is still spot on

ive checked on the 3 way valve the 2 switchs they are working
ok
ie turn hot water on little pip comes out and pushes the m switch
and the same when i turn the stat up on the other switch

the pumps is running ok i think
so im gussing the water thats being heated is no flowing
gets to hot and the boiler turns off ?

could it be the 3 wat valve ?
or may be temp sender or some thing
any ideas please
we are very cold

could be the thermistor your better off getting some one out

but dont want to get ripped off

3 weeks ago 2 plumbers
1 wanted to replace the boiler
the other the pcb ?

i just cleaned the heat exchanger

Could you give me some tests to do
Im a comp engine builder by trade
so i have some basic skills

That dosnt really help Mate ?
1 week untill xmas no one will come out
the last 2 tried to rip us off
I would never play with the gas side of things

I thought some one could help with the basics to test
ie if its a temp sender
valve, pump etc I can do that

I will have it serviced after xmas

try the thermister its a dry fit i dont have voltages to hand also check return filters not blocked

one return filter inside the return isolation valve,btw dont change the boiler its a decent one

could it be the 3 way valve not working ?
if so how can i check this ?
im gussing it is as the 2 diaphams are
seem to be working ok

it could be jammed but would have thought hot water would be affected

just to ask if its the thermister may i ask
why the hot water is ok ?

or is there one for hw and one for ch
if so to test so we know could we bypass
this if heating works we then now
or is it easy just to try one ?

no thermistor for the dhw on the 24 it goes off ch primary thermistor reading so thats probably ok,if diverter sticking flow pipe should get very hot when in dhw mode so check return filter report back with findings

you say the filter is inside the valve
you mean the return from th rads yes ?

do I need to remove the valve to get to the filter ?
the valvee has a cap on one end is it in there
or is that just a blanking cap ?

take the cap off,filters in there

if i look in side i can see the ball of the valve thats it ?

try the other side in case isos have been mis placed

yes theres a filter in the left side ie heating flow not really blocked a few bits but ok
i have cleaned should ie refit or chnage to the other side?

the manuel says theres a filter in the flow deverter ?

if it will fit put the filter in the other side,the other filter you are referring to only effects dhw this is coming down to a pump,jammed diverter or control issue do you have a room stat and timer?

ok i have fitted filter to the correct side now 🙂

Yes i have a room stat and timer
stat im not sure what make looks new
timer is honeywell also looks new

you need to bypass stat and timer one at a time to see if they are the issue

ive repressurised the system bleed the rads all working fine now ????
very odd
i had the boiler switched off for about an hour while ive
been carring out the checks
would it have may be reset it self ?

or may be had some air in the boiler ?
we will see but still going at the moment
heat at last 🙂

thats very strange only thing thats auto re setting is high limit stat unless filter was at fault

glad to hear its still behaving adie,i have one in my home,have fitted 200+and my parents have a very early version the baxi 80 eco which is the same boiler and now 14 years old!!! but creaking a bit lol they are really good boilers if fitted right and the systems de scaled

hi yes thanks well thats good as saw lots of theads saying they are crap
it was fitted before we moved in
its in the garage but its old and cold
so im a bit worried about it freezing ?

i had to tidy up he wirring replace all the rads
etc etc

Any way its still working very well at the moment
where are you based
