Potterton performa 30 HE fan/flue light flashes

Hi,

My boiler is about 7-8 years old.
My boiler CH works fine on its own as does the DHW.
But if the CH is running and gas is lit and I turn on a hot tap, the burner extinguishes, then it tries to relight over the course of about 30 seconds, sometimes lighting again, but more often than not failing and flashing the fan/flue fault indicator.

Recently as we are not using CH much in the summer now, i have also noticed that even when I request DHW, that the boiler struggles trying to light the burner for about 30 seconds before being successful (although it is ultimately successful).

I also notice that the pressure seems to vary a lot during a CH cycle. So at startup it is at 0.5 bar, but after a couple of hours is at 2 bar sometimes at 2.5 bar. Is this an indication that the pressure vessel needs replacing, and could this be the cause of my other issues.

The boiler has a new PCB which was replaced about 3 months ago in an attempt to fix the above to with no success.

Any help appreciated before I call my GS engineer out which would comfort me that I am putting my pennies in the right direction.

You need a gsr, no gas advice to non gsr people, sorry, site rules. But if not happy with current engineer then you can post on here for someone or ask friends, family, neighbours or colleagues for a recommendation.

You have more then one problem with your boiler , so best to get a GSR Engineer to repair one problem at a time !
You can also post here and local to you plumber will come over and help you out ......
