Hi guys,

Been to look at a prima 80e. pilot lights but main burner doesn't, tapped gas valve as suspected sticking solenoid - boiler fired up, just wandered is there anyway of repairing the valve or will it need a new one?

Boiler stayed lit after i free'd it but have told the customer it will probably happen again and if it does will need a new valve but was just wandering if i could save them some money before xmas.

Cheers

Take it its not that 1?

You're welcome 🙂 Euroboilerparts is a relativley competitive place to shop for parts and they'll deliver straight to the custard... 🙂

Just as a precaution before you did. The pilot will light on them before it looks to the fan and aps. Been caught on that before. It only goes to full flame when its satisfied the fans running.

Ah thanks for that just thought with tapping the gas valve it was that, if they call back i may pop back round and double check.

Thanks for that

I swapped one of those today on a gloworm, as the previous techie ordered it and ran off on holiday. However it wasnt broken and the pilot still failed to light, so I presume it was the relay on the pcb gone, but the main burner did work and light with my *** lighter, so the aps and fan must have been OK? then she gave us a sarnie and I only just made it home to throw up again!! didnt order the pcb, told her to get her original guy back and do the correct repair!

my assumption is that the pilot lit, main burner lit ok after that as aps and fan were ok, but the pcb knackered. Wanted to try to give her something, but as soon as the flame drops off the pilot will drop and it wont light again and then lock out as before, I dont get why the first techie couldnt see that? and she insisted i fit a new gas valve he'd left in the merchants for her, even though I knew it still wouldnt work? so got paid for resolving B all.
