Gas Engineer
Hi all

called to a prima 80f today. Its about 16years old. It was serviced three weeks ago aparently. Cust says the guy who serviced it is away!
Anyway, its lighting the pilot but wont fire the main burner. There is a spark when the pilot is lit but thats it. No instructions!!

Any help please....... Gas valve or pcb??????

Cheers

Pcb is common for dry joints, if you tap the underside of the board & it fires up it will be the board!

Could be I suppose... Less common to fail tho, the prima has a pretty good fault finding chart I think if you've looked?

If the pilot is lit and it is still sparking, it's either the pcb not getting a flame signal or issue with the pcb. If it lights pilot and then stops sparking that would suggest a faulty gas valve or pcb (depending if power to the second solenoid)
Check pilot is strong, if not check the injector is clear.
Ignition lead and probe condition. Lead can go brittle near the electrode end.
If you have 230v on the white to the gas valve then it would be a gas valve fault.
As previously said pcb's can be a pain on these boiler's.
