Can anyone point me to any posts or threads that deal with ignition problems with potterton Promax 15 HE boilers. I have attended sevral of these recently with problems ranging from explosive ignition to repititive lockouts on flame failure.

Potterton have advised to change combustion door and ignition electrodes, this only led to the insulation board on the new door getting badly burned.

They did not mention changing the burner although I believe that the ceramic burner is preferred to the fabric one????????

Had the same problem again today door and electrodes changed - continued ignition problems?????

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks Gas Man

The interesting thing is that the boiler today has a fabric burner and not the ceramic one. I have ordered the ceramic burner in the hope that this would solve the problem.

In my job I attend to many of these boilers whenever I see them my heart sinks!!

they are terrible i have just the one solo 30 he fitted baxi have been out 7 times i feel sorry for heatteam having to work on these, they replaced the burner and heat exchanger last time but it did not have explosive ignition just a whine, and the time before that i replaced the flowswitch after they got it wrong or more to the point that particular engineer

Make sure you fit the new gas supply pipe as well,Should be in burner box..Regarding Combustion box door and electrodes (order 720012201 Door kit) Comes with new door, New chunky type electrodes and earth wire and connectors.
