agreedm you have to be careful with powerflushing, make sure you offer no gurantees of it working when you start. as you could end up with alot of non paying customers, im so careful when offering powerflushes

Lets be clear. Nobody is going to take you on. If the "big boys" see it as a revenue stream they will do it themselves. What big boys btw are not doing powerflushes? I do admire your get up and go. However, powerflushes go wrong and you may need to do work at the boiler to get it going again. (You sound like you are not GSR.) You will be by yourself and the big boys will not be covering the bill and you will be out on your ear if you do not resolve the problem. Good luck though. Try door to door sales. Speak directly with the decision maker.

Sorry to jump in on the conversation, but what would go wrong? Seized pump? Blocked heat exchanger?

Obviously the main concern is leaks etc, but if in your terms and conditions (that the customer will sign) you say you do not cover watertightness of exsiting pipework/appliances/fittings you will be covered?

Cheers

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this. I am expecting a rough ride, I am 42, unemployed and unable to get work in the traditional apprentice role (it seems nobody wants to train the competition). I hope to focus on a few tasks such as powerflushing and installation of Magnacleans and hopefully I can offer service to an established plumber at a price that will make it cost effective. Of course I would accept work from anyone, not just large plumbing firms (the bigger boys comment was a mistake and a retort to a comment that they would rather do the work themselves). Powerflushing is risky business with many pitfalls, as I have already encountered. I'll let you know how I get on.

I can only wish you all the best, and hope you succeed. You are making the the effort to try and get work witch should be admired, we don't see too much of it in this country anymore sadly.

It is worth paying attention to some of the points made before, you want a set of terms and conditions for the customer to sign before starting work explaining what you do and don't guarantee, and any potential additional costs, just to cover yourself.

Best of luck :smile5:
