Hi All,

I have done a few power Flushes now and it always puzzles me, Kamco reccomend putting the boiler on for a maximum of 10 minute, I always make sure the flow is in the normal direction, before I switch on incase of a non return valve being inside the boiler.

However every time I turn boiler on I always get a big rattling noise, like the sludge is coming out of the boiler, which puzzles me as the power flush has been running for 1 hour before I switch boiler on.

My question is, Is there something that is stopping water going through the boiler when it is switched off? or is the power flush constantly cleaning the boiler when Power Flushing?

I dont think there is but I wanted to be sure.

And secondly, has anybody else noticed that there isnt enough water pressure to fill the kamco CF90 whilst dumping. I think this is due to low pressure in the houses I have worked in, just wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem, I know there is a secondary inlet but it is extra work connecting it up and replacing after. however it takes longer swiitching it off and waiting for it to refill evry 2 minutes, (whilst dumping water)

First problem could just be air purging, if not then try sticking a TF1 or Twintech filter on your return hose and see what (if anything) it brings out, may be some scale or sludge still left in the system thats now been brought into solution using the cleaner and powerflush but not actually dumped out of the boiler, especially if you cant dynamically flush because of the low water pressure.

I use the Powerflow Mk III and it blasts round at 85 litres a min, doesnt leave anything in the system! you can also balance the cold water in with the level of dump/circulate allowing a much easier dynamic flush (where fresh water is being introduced at the same time as sludge being dumped).

If you know the property has minimal cold water pressure then I recommend filling a couple of empty solar fluid drums (mine are 25 litres a piece) and if the mains is slow I can top up the tank using the drums.

i always turn of the powerflush and isolate it the turn boiler on to warm up then turn off then flusher back on if u no what i mean! 85litres a min is impressive for a flusher my old kamco feels like it does about 0.85 a min nowadays lol
