My domestic water supply comes in at 6.5 bar making taps difficult to turn on and off and also making my Triton shower drip when turned off. Approx 3 months ago, I fitted an Advantay PRV which immediately solved the problem and controlled the domestic system at 2.5 bar. However, just recently the valve appears to be dribbling because, although the pressure remains at 2.5 bar when a tap is turned on, when the tap is turned off, the pressure very slowly creeps up to 6 bar. I have replaced the PRV and all is now ok, again - but for how long? I inspected the old PRV but there was nothing obviously wrong with it and the washer and seating appeared ok. I would be very grateful for any useful comments, particularly from anyone who has experience with this particular type of PRV. How long do they usually last and should I be using an better alternative?

maby just a faulty one that you got to start off with , did you fit it according to the M.I ?? and was there a filter fitted before it? maby some debris got in and scratched the seating and washer?????

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I installed it according to the manufacturers instructions and the PRV has an internal fine screen installed. I did wonder if some damage had been caused by debris but I could not see any when I dismantled the PRV. What I really wanted to know was the average lifetime generally experienced with PRV's in a domestic environment as I have never installed one before.
