I have an old glow worm boiler, a honywell electronic timer next to the boiler but no central thermostat and a variable manual three way valve next to the cylinder, (input/CH/Hot Water).

The boiler will work satisfactorily for a couple of days or so then, for some reason not fire up although the pilot light is on. I can get it to restart by fiddling with the three way valve then turning the boiler on and off a few timed and for some reason it will then fire up and run OK for another day or so.

Has any one any ideas as to what I should try to solve this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Very unlikely to be the system or controls, most likely to be the boiler for which the only advice we can give is that you need to out a Gas Safe Registered engineer to have a look & repair it.

Sorry but we cant help any further than that.
