Problem with cast iron rad

Hi

Im having trouble with a large cast iron radiator, it gets hot at the top but not at the bottom. I've tried opening the retun valve fully and closing down all the rest of the rads, this only improves it slightly.

any advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it needs flushing, take it outside and get a hose in it.

Install a magnetic filter also!

It could be the control valve on the radiator.
Particularly if its a thermostatic valve.
Sometimes the jumper pin get stuck and reduces the flow into the radiator.
Pull the head off and pull the pin up with pliers.
If the boiler has a by-pass valve in it - close it to get full flow through the radiator.
Other tan that - flush the radiator
