I know they are under the same Travis umbrella but just had a call from area manager saying they are merging and there will be installer centres (left as they are) and showrooms (big bathroom displays etc) but your account will be useable in all of the stores.

I can't understand why as in a few places pts and city's are opposite each other and those that use one may not like or use the other, also you could have an account with each doubling your available credit but if they merge surly the account will be come 1 halving credit availability unless they double your allowance

seems like a huge faff for little gain IMHO all it will do is flood the trade counter with joe public walking in with half his house in his hand spending half hour explaining what he is trying to achieve and do they have something that will do it!

if a city and pts are on the same park, they have twice the fixed costs for no gain, no brainer imho. If your using different companies to get credit and worry you'll be affected by this, then you probably shouldnt have that much credit! Any decent merchant will increase you allowance to make large purchases if you need it, mine does no hassle at all.

PTS are aiming for larger housing development market rather than sole trader! They've lost out on millions by not being able to provide next day to sites like others have so this is their new target!

City Plumb will target sole traders & smaller businesses/companies & also expand their next day service!

The next day service seems to be their biggest downfall apparently so that's why this reshuffle & refocus is being done.

They were always very different business models. In their own way, both very good businesses under their original management, and both have done reasonably well under the TP umbrella, although City are nothing like the force that they were under Brian Benjamin's leadership. (Although I cant say I ever liked the bloke).

And they can have as many internal re-organisations as they like. While they are concentrating on these things, they often forget to sell bogs to plumbers, leaving us to mop up the field.

The local Travis Perkins have a Massive site in Littlehampton, I have never seen a trades van in there.

Unless they park in there for The Dinky Doo Diner next door !!!!

Is that the one down by the seafront? I went in there once, just before we opened up our branch. No stock, no staff and no clue. I dashed back to the landlord and signed on the dotted line. That was 12 years ago now...

That's good logic ray, did you apply the same before opening up at the rear of plumb centre and screw fix just down from drakes and within 300 yards of pts, tps and hps on the same estate as what wasBritain's biggest b&q...

fair play though that must have been a worry when signing the lease but it's ok I found you

Having a few friends who work at drakes, as a company they have a particular spot for williams in hell....

We deliberately seek out clusters of other merchants when we go to a new town.

It saves a fortune in marketing.

My old mate Jim Marsh worked at Drakes for ages after he left AHED, and I am sure he would never wish anything negative on us. On the other hand - business is business. If they find our pricing difficult to cope with, then they only have their business model to fix! 🙂

This is the guys at the ashford branch.

I think they lose out quite abit to your pricing ray.
anyway! I think you have fitted in quite well as what the tradesmen want rather than to maximise profits.

we want a flat rate and dedicated service.
plus you will go the extra mile!

i'm sure if i said crap i need an atag boiler or an oso super series you would try your best to get it.
