Radiator is heating up only to 1/3 of high

Hi to all,

I have bought a new radiator as replacement for old one.


After installation by plumber, the new radiator is heating up only to 1/3 of high. The rest remain cold.
Also, radiator is making quite loud noise when heating up.

The system/radiator is free of air.

My plumber was wondering if it may be a directional type of radiator, but he could not find any additional info in manual or any labels or arrows on radiator itself.

It looks like it it vertical type that can be installed horizontally.

Any suggestion, what can be a problem please?

Maybe someone from forum have already installed this model?


I am not a plumber, by my thoughts are it may be a wrong connection or baffle?

Any suggestion really appreciated.

Are you sure about the horizontal fitting. I would assume with that radiator it would have some type of spreader

did it come with the bleed / seal nut fitted, if not has it been hung upside down,
i"ve only fitted 4 of these and they have had stickers on saying in, out,

have you followed instructions on page two?
have you got the flow going in at the correct side of the rad.

There is no labels to tell where is in or out, so assume it can be installed both ways.

You might the look of that, but it has no fins. The claimed output is 6557 BTU but at T60. A mean radiator temp of 80 degrees is crazy hot.

Installed on a new system, designed to regs for flow of 55deg return of 35deg, this radiator would put out 2255BTU, or .66 kW.

B2-EN442 states all hydronic radiator and towel rail outputs are tested and presented at Delta T 50° or ΔT 50°. So an illegal advert in Amazon.

This radiator doesn’t put out a great deal of heat and the Amazon description of its heat output makes it seem better than it is.

Think he is trying to say that if horizontal you have to remove the blank that will be in the end pipe as it won’t flow it is there for when it’s vertical to assist the flow up to the top and carry on with its convection. Look at page 2 to confirm

We had a job where the customer had a similar issue. In the end we just knocked the baffle out with a length of threaded bar and hey presto they worked perfectly! I think the baffle is there for vertical fit to direct the water round.

That make sense, however is should be better presented in installation manual.

The reseller ignores UK regulations about efficiency information. So why would they produce a decent manual?
