hello,

I want to replace an old type double panel radiator in my living room. It is a basic rad, no fins, it must be about 10, 15 years old. The size of this monster is 600x2200. I don't know what the power output is but I estimate it is around 3000 watts. Quinn's (Compact Double Convector Radiator 600mm x 2000mm) output is 3280 watts and it is quite pricey, nearly £210.

I've heard that wickes radiators are rebranded Quinn radiators, don't know whether that is true.
Is it a good idea to replace the old one with a double premium radiator from wickes 600x1600, £115. The output of it is 2926 watts. Will that be enough?

Any comments on Wickes rads?

Always appreciate any responses from you friendly plumbers
Regards,
Simon

That's not a bad price for a 10k BTU rad. It will be a decent replacement. I'd go for it.

Quinns definitely made Wickes radiators for many years, and Barlo (subsequently bought by Quinn) for years before that.

If its a double rad with no fins, its more than 10-15 years old - its probably 30 years or more.

you old radiator will not be anywhere near the output of the same size with 2 convectors. a slightly smaller rad (double convector) will be fine.
