hi all
just quoting for a job ,the chap is gutting the house , he wants all the rads taken off and the bathroom stripped out ready for replastering etc, the boiler is going to be resited downstairs, my question is that the heating is old and small bore, as there is pipework to remove is it ok to use original pipe work for heating or rip out and go for 15mm ,? also cant find drain tap for heating downstairs could they be under wooden floor, so any tips to drain system would be helpful
thanks john

you say small bore or change to 15mm, small bore IS 15mm, do you mean microbore? if so its more bother than its worth to strip and reuse, be careful on your boiler resite, things like flue seals etc get broken when taken out, make sure they are available or you will end up needing a new boiler, also on a refit, make sure the boiler is fit to move, check back of combustion box for deterioration, to drain down remove a small downstairs rad (or get some help with a bigger one) strip the tail out of the rad and rig up a hose to it which will drain it down, if you are lifting some flooring you could simply "snatch" a 15mm compression tee in live, pipe it back from outside with a drain valve fitted and open, so that when you cut in the tee live the water will run to outside and not really leak much, keep calm and have all your tools to hand, easy peasy.

get a price off a plumber, you dont know what you are doing ,from the what you,ve posted, sub the work out
