Hi Guys,

I'm a DIY-er, I've replaced a couple of rads in the house before, and fitted new TVRs on all the rads. So I'd like to think I have some idea about what I'm doing :whatchutalkingabout

I replaced the rad in the lounge on the ground floor over the summer. New one is a column type, so had to cut the feed and return pipes to length. Finished up the job, pressurised the system, bleed the system etc. The rad was full of water. No leaks. All good I thought. Nailed the floorboard back down. I didn't need the heating on then so left it.

Turned the heating on a couple of weeks ago and new rad was not getting hot - others are all fine.
I've balanced the system (or tried to) and still nothing. Re-bleed the system - that all seems fine.

I'm running of a combi-boiler - Worcester Greenstar, which is on the middle floor of a three-storey house.
TVR pin is NOT stuck.

Odd thing is that when I turn the TVR on there's no sound of water running into the rad and it's not bringing the boiler on.

Any ideas gratefully received. Otherwise I may have to give some money to a proper plumber

I hope you've actually fitted a TRV. A TRV is a rad valve, a TVR is a sports car.

It's incredibly important not to mix the two!

Thanks Croppie, will try balancing again in the morning.
Right now I need to take a porsche off a rad in bathoom

I didn't notice anything.

It's a Milano Windsor - Traditional 6 x 3 Column Radiator Cast Iron Style White 1800mm x 293mm.

Try opening 1 valve at a time on rad. Open rad vent, there should b a decent flow from vent. Then close rad vent, close valve, open the other valve then open vent. There should be a good flow again. If there's not 1 of the valves are broken.
If that doesn't bear any fruit,Take d rad down and put a bit of pipe across the two rad valves. If it heats up no prob straight away it's d rad.
Ye could also run a hose off each valve with the rad down to give each pipe a good flush. Just in case there's a wee bit of debri in pipe or valve. You'd be surprised how small the hole the water flows through in valve can be
Also google your rad on the net to make sure you've piped it correctly
