Called out this afternoon to buzzing oil boiler. Got there and it was an rdb, swapped over the capacitor and still no better. Then they told me a gas lad had taken it to bits and it ran for a couple of hours after. Basically the motor was shot and I didnt have one on the van. Nearer to Darlington than anywhere else so rang parts centre. Ouch. Yes they had one at 110 plus vat. Didnt have time to run about so went to get it. Walked in and said I was there for the rdb motor but where was your mask. He looked puzzled until I commented that even dick turpin wore a mask when robbing somebody. He wasnt impressed.

I'll bet they get it all the time like us. I find all parts horribly expensive now, but it might be my age.

You merchants are all the same. Sell us a boiler for a fortune and don't even fit it for us. How are we ever going to achieve the lifestyle we aspire to if we have to keep working?
