Rooom stat help

Hello I am hoping that some can help me !!
I am trying to replace a room thermostat (as photos below) room stat only works at 30oC (it’s so old they don’t sell them any more) I have bought two room stats today and I have wire them in but it keeps blowing the fuse (3amp)
And suggestions why this keeps happing
I bought
Drayton combistat 24028
Honeywell home MT1 thermostat

Short circuit? Any photos of wiring new stats up?

If the fuse keeps blowing you must have introduced a dead short by incorrect wiring

is the photo above on the right taken before you took the old one off the wall ?

Unfortunately I didn’t get none when wired in 🙁
first two photos are Honeywell
Last four photos are drayton

Yeah that was before photos before unwiring it

This where I wired on both

Blue to 2 as that’s your neutral not yellow
1 live in red 3 live out call yellow

I tried the honey well first as it looks nicer tbh
And can you draw on the photo of were the wires meant to go please

and does that mean I can fit any sort of stat there like a Digital one ?

You can but wiring would need to be altered maybe depending on the stat any in mind ?

Depends on the type, as Shaun said. You can get 2 wire ones which just use live and switched and run off batteries. If you want a smart thermostat such as Nest/Hive, then you need permanent live and permanent neutral supplies.

Is my wiring suitable for a nest/hive?

Any one would work just need to adjust the wiring in the wiring centre

Oh really , If and when I do want to change it I will have too take loads of photos and ask for some help if that is okay 🙂

That’s fine

the box which the thermostat talks to goes where your wiring centre is then the thermostat talks to this box with just two wires or just gets power via these two wires

Depends on the type, as Shaun said. You can get 2 wire ones which just use live and switched and run off batteries.

So if it’s hard wired as opposed to wireless with a receiver, it’ll just use live and switch
