whats a realistic price for second hand copper cylinder for scrap

Bout £20-£30 depending on your scrapyard

Just taken one back and got £15

Depends how much sand you can get in the bottom without them noticing 😉, if you want to get really clever, you can always cut a hole in the top so they can see there is no rubbish inside then fill the coil up.....or so I have hear...allegedly speaking 😀

But if you're a regular at the scrappy it's not worth trying it on. If you get caught you'll get a ban. Chap got caught hiding lead in with his copper and got banned. He now has to go to one that pays about 25% less. They reckon he probably conned then out of a couple of quid a go but banned him as a matter of principle.
