Alright lads drill packed in today, I don't know much about the spec of a decent SDS

But do you think this once will be ok?

General drilling, blow off pipes, 6mm holes etc

Looks ok. I bought the makita 3 function one for the same price though. does me for the same things you need it for.

very handy for removing tiles.

I have always stuck to Bosch for my SDS's. As I said on another thread, I do own one of those cheap Titan ones, and can't remember why I bought it!

My last Bosch, I abused it. Seriously abused it, and it still lasted 4 years.

Just got a new Makita HR 2470 for under £100 inc VAT and delivery but this is the cheapest I can find now: HR2450 - Makita SDS+ Hammer Drill (Chiselling Action) - Makita - HR2450 < Typo on website, should be 2470.

Had the older version for about 11 years and was still working perfect. Only reason I replaced it is because I let a plasterer borrow it and it got stolen. I've used it countless times for drilling 22mm holes in concrete, can't fault it as it does what it claims it can and then some.

What does the 'T' stand for? I did find out while looking around for mine but forgot now.

Here's what I tested my new one out on, the hole is from a 16mm bit and the damage is from trying out the chiselling function:

Make sure it can do 26mm minimum in concrete with a bit, then you can push it and do a 30mm if you pre drill with a 20mm bit.

if you're finding you're doing alot of 25mm or larger holes it might pay to go for a slightly bigger drill (that dewalts going to struggle)

time is money after all!

If you find you are doing a lot of holes over 25mm buy a couple of these
Erbauer TCT Core Drill Bit 30mm | NoLinkingToThis
in whatever sizes turns you on and one of these
Erbauer SDS Plus Arbor 300mm | NoLinkingToThis

You won't need the pilot bit if you can work a drill. Lots quicker and can be used in any sds even a junk one.

im with tamz, the bosch would be a great choice imo.

Bosch GBH2-26 DRE 2-kilo 3-mode Rotary Hammer with SDS-Plus Fitting 240V

i have had many different brands of sds drill, bosch make the best standard 2kg drills imo, for value and performance you wont beat them. 3 year warranty to boot.

most of these sds drills are not designed to drill multipul holes the size we tend to drill tbh, you need to buy a drill for use in its optimum range not its max range really. for alot of large holes get an sds max.
