I am fitting a secondary circulator and looking for the best way to control it with a single channel. Programmer and pipe stat/s. I am aware of the grundfoss comfort but it's pretty big money. How have you guys set them up in the past? Dont want to time it alone but not sure how best to set up the stats to improve efficiency. Not just to reduce how long the pump is turning (electric consumption) but to reduce heat losses through the secondary loop. Figured I could have the programmer turn it on and have the stat check that the cylinder is up to temperature if it is then start pump and a return stat to see if the loop is up to temp and if it is then shut pump off. Thanks in advance for your Views, differing methods and opinions all will be great fully received and considdered.

there are many methods and theories I normally put them timed during occupied hours and off a night for domestic stuff

A long shot..... Depending on the boiler fitted, you can control your secondary circs through the boiler software, my viessmann 200 lets you do it, so no doubt it will be available from other boiler manufacturers .

Went with the new grundfos up20n auto. Pretty smart if I could get hold of the damn 11/4 brass union set to fit it. Deceptively small unit though. Tiny compared to your standard ups2.
