Yesterday the hose split on the hot output of our shower pump (Varispeed 50 Twin Impeller Pump), and as you'd expect there was a lot of mess to clean up.

I have now replaced the hose, (all of them infact). When I turn the pump on, it continually runs.

Does anyone know what has gone wrong?

TIA for any help you can provide me with.

Usually, shower pumps switch themselves on when water begins to flow through either the cold or the hot pipe - when you open the valve in the shower mixer. This water flow operates a (usually) mechanical flow switch that powers up the pump motor. The flow switches are often located in the outlet pipes in the pump, and being mechanical they can jam up with impurities or just get stuck. I guess they could jam in the 'on' or 'off' position and yours may have stuck 'on'.

You could try banging the pump body to unstick the flow switch(es), and/or poking a small brush or rod carefully down the outlet spigots on the pump to clear debris and free up the switch(es) (?)
