Basically done a landlords cert on Monday, Alpha that had been installed less than a year ago.

Flue in void, had hatches etc.

Condensation leaking from flue so I turned the boiler off this is where it got interesting!

The owner told me the company that installed the boiler had tried to fit two vokeras before opting for the Alpha. The reason they had trouble installing the vokeras was as he put it "they couldnt tie it into the flue that was fitted already"

He then told me they didn't want to have to fit a new flue as it was too much work so fitted the alpha as it was an alpha flue that was already there.

So basically this mob have fitted this boiler using an old flue that is now leaking

They've told the owner they aint sorting it as they didn't install the flue its not their problem.

The owner has got gas safe coming out next week for a free inspection and have invited me and the installer along

Where do I stand on this ? take it the installer will get his baws kicked ?

You've done the right thing don't worry about it gs will give the bloke opportunity to correct his work.

+1 you noticed the fault and turned the appliance off so you done your duty of care

Its all about the $$ imho; but I am a full time cynic.

Who re-uses a flue though? sure thats taught as a cardinal sin from day one

The installers answer was it was a like for like swap. the flat is 7 years old.. did they make intec 2's 7 years ago ??
