Just wondering what SDS drills some of you use, if anyone can recommend me something (£200 budget) I will hopefully get something in the next few days.

Also what drill bit set would be worth getting?

what hole cutter set can be recommended?

what size hole cutter for flues 110mm?

That Sparky core cutter was on special at B&Q trade a few months back. It was silly cheap (about £60) but my local branch had sold out. Someone on here put the link up.

I've had a decent core drill (Makita) but it got nicked a few years ago. Since then I've gone back to my Bosch SDS and it does the job. Not as well as the core drill, as the clutch is a bit namby pampy, but it gets there. I once used an SDS with no clutch. Nearly broke my head off.

I actually own 7 different power drills that I've accumulated for the business since I started 4 years ago, ranging from core drill, various cordless, angle drill and two SDS.

I do like my powertools though.

Thanks, excuse my lack of knowledge but if i'm going to have an SDS what would I need a core drill for?

I agree this is a great forum. generous people and plenty of great advice.
im not absolutely sure what the difference is but once youve used one youll know think the core drill is faster or has more torque and clutch is different doesnt grab and snatch try hiring one next time youneed to do a flue

SDS runs a lot slower than a core drill. I've used my SDS when my core drill packed up but it's nowhere near as fast at coring holes. Also the SDS snatches you a lot more if it jams.

If an SDS was as good as a core drill do you think that large companies would bother supplying both to their employees?

This is one of the most invaluable tools I have, had it for two years and I'd be totally lost without it.
