Hi guys,

been to a massive house that's full on non barrier pipe. Heating system is sludged up but ground floor rads not working at all. This is due to all the glow pipes being completely blocked.

As they don't want a the pipe renewing, I was thinking of finding the flow pipes on the first floor and cutting into them. Then I need something to push down the pipe to remove the blockage

whag do you reckon? Any other ideas appreciated

Tip some chemicals in go back ina few week and flush through

I was going to do that but I'm scared that holes may develop in the rads and flood the house when I'm not there. I think it will need at least the use of Ds40, which is only citric acid with an indicator in. But the long contact time could cause problems

ive recommended a recipe of the ground flood to keep costs down but wanted to explore other options before I take the drastic one.

Water from flow pipe is just trickling, return is brilliant

are you saying the ch system is composed of non barrier pipe! if so its pointless trying to flush it as the rads will be failing and it will shortly block again. even worse your flushing could cause a rad to fail and youll be blamed. if the customer doesnt understand and bin the system, walk away, its a legal nightmare waiting to fall in your lap

I agree it all needs replacing but as the house is up for sale, they just want to make do until they sell it as the house is freezing. The house has a total of 27 rads so its gonna cost a pretty penny to sort it all

wont be any good for sale if its flooded for them or you, you really need to walk away!!!!

I use curtain wire, plasic coated like the stuff you get with a cylinder stat, any diy outlet sells the stuff in good lengths etc, you can tease one end of the sprial out to create a screw effect, shove up pipe as far as you can and stick other end in a corless screwdriver and spin away.........

Agree with lame regarding this dude, you'll be going back constantly unblocking it. Either the owners will think you're not doing it right because you will keep going back to unblock or its just going to end up with disaster spelt all over the job
