Hey I have done my level to in plumbing and am hoping to go on and do my level 3 and hopefully get my gas safe. Although I know this will be a few years aways. I am reading up on the rules about soundeness testing I know about doing a let be test at 10mb and then temperture stablization etc. But do you need to purge the pipe work before doing a soundeness test on gas?

Just think about it – you are purging a gas carcass without the TT – taking your time and enjoying your job. Meanwhile, without your knowledge gas is escaping from the carcass. It could be lots of gas… Can you see now why the TT needs to be done before the purging? It’s all about the logistics and safety.
Hope it helps.
