If you want to know all there is to know about Speedfit, go here....

The plain inserts are for using plastic pipe with a brass compression fitting. Use ONLY copper olives with Speedfit not brass and never over tighten them. Don't use plastic pipe with a combination of cheap ball type valves and ceramic disc taps, they will eventually blow off. The Supaseal inserts with the o rings are for plastic pipe and Speedfit fittings. Twist these onto the pipe, don't force them! Never EVER use flux, pipe jointing compounds, oil based paints and cheap silicon any near Speedfit. Same goes for some Central Heating additives. Check the O ring in evey fitting and always ensure that you have full slip and keep your fittings in bags, I use resealable Zip freezer bags and protect the pipe from scratches. That online link above will tell you recommended clip spacing. Finally it's really good stuff, but is getting expensive. The cost is about the same now for soldered fittings and copper, but the time saved is the real bonus.

good post i sometimes mark the depth so i know its inserted fully and mark it a second time when ive locked i use those red and blue collars when i remember it stops the release collar being compressed
