WEDGE

Morning all,

Sometimes even us plumbers need a second opinion...
I called out to a customer the other day with a drilling noise in the loft, I dismantled and re-assembled the fluidmaster pro series side entry valve on the cold water storage tank and reassembled. Everthing was fine and the noise had stopped, I then had another call as the customer complained of a squealing noise in the pipes first thing in the morning when the cold tap in the kitchen was used and the toilet was used as the cold water tank filled up.
Went back out and sods law that evening it was fine and didnt do anything they described after heavy testing. However low and behold it did it again later that night when the tank was filled but not when the kitchen cold tap was used this time, also its done it again this morning.
We all know intermittent faults are trouble I was just wondering if any one may have some advice?
P.S The squealing was described as someone rubbing clean a whiteboard if that makes sense.
Cheers

Iv had similar trouble in the past and it was down to water pressure, Just by turning the mains stop tap down usualy sorts this problem, Anothe rpossibilty is there could of been a leak in the area that has recently been fixed and now pressure going in to the property is much higher.. but honestly i find by turning the stop tap down a little stops most noises.. hope this helps

I really appreciate you letting me know that. I will either be out there again tonight or tomorrow but will let you know how it goes.
I did explain to the customer about pressure fluctuations from outside and changes in supply pressure depending on time of day and demand, but you know what its like sometines they just look at you as if you trying to get out of it and think its because of what I did with the fluidmaster.
Thanks again for the advice.
