Sorry to hear about your tools.

Be real careful though as round here they nick the tools, wait three months so you can buy nice new ones on the insurance and they come back later to get those.

Had an uncle who was a sparky and they not only nicked his tools twice, but also his gold clubs which he kept in the van............gutted.

Where do you park your van overnight? If it's on a driveway or something then invest in security lights and cameras etc. won't stop the determined thief but will act as a deterant to the rest.

If it's on a road then not as easy but heavy duty bolts on the doors and van vault etc.

I have knows where to store my tools overnight so it has to stay in the van and this terrifies me. I have been done once and they only took about £700-900 worth of kit and £150 worth of damage but a carpenter down the road had his van emptied and they took £8000 worth of tools.

An unexpected outcome. The lad got car and all his gear back. The thief got sent down and didnt press charges for the being run over or the assault. He merely stated that he got what was coming to him. Think the two lads were really lucky. 999 times out of a thousand the scrote would havevpressed charges and they would probably have got done for it.

He was probably terrified for his life thinking if they have run me over what are they capable of! Lol. Also you got to remember a lot of things are spineless cowards and if you confront them they cack themselves and run away.

A lot of foreign trash doing vans in sheff at the momemt,Roma's are crowbarring doors and nicking tools,if I hear anything mate I will give you a nod

Thanks paul, just found that the police have acknowledged that there is a speight of break ins at the moment, why don't they let people know to be more vigilant?

Also found that insurance won't pay out a single penny. As bigger thieves as the actual perpetrators!

What excuse are they using? When I paid for my insurance they asked if I wanted tool cover? I said what are the terms as my van is too large to fit in a garage, I don't own a van vault and I have no extra protection. They said it wouldn't matter as long as I get a police crime number. Can't say I believe them but it wasn't that much extra.

Apparently I never agreed to tool cover. It's totalllies, I was never even aware it was available. If I had been offered it there is no way I would have turned it down. Going to dig abit deeper and see if there is owt I can do. Maybe off home insurance? Not holding out much hope

I'm in the same boat no where to put tools so I've got deadlocks and a van vault,
Best thing you can do is fit a lock on the back door internally and exit via side door
