Hi all got a job starting soon and the customer doesn't no what kind of system he wants. At the moment it's a conventional system with a undersized vented hot water cylinder which both are about 20-25 years old. He already has 2 bathrooms with mixer showers which are pumped and he is having an extension with another bathroom and another mixer shower. There is already 17 rads with 5 more going in the extension and the boiler is already on the limit.
The extension is going miles away from all the main pipes but the boiler is rite by the extension he can't understand why I can't just T into the pipes coming from the boiler have told him that the rads will get hot even when the hot water is on as its b4 the 3 port valve. Also if he keeps the system will have to get 2hot and cold pipes 2 heating pipes and and 2 shower pipes right across the house and his wife doesn't want the mess. (As usual)

ive told him the best option is a system boiler with an unvented hot water cylinder so he doesn't have to worry about shower pumps and any low pressure with the hot water and the system will be better in a s plan. But again he knows that will be costly an an upheaval.

Next option is a big combi like worcetser high flow 550 I think it is which gives like 25 l/pm or a viessmann vitodens 111 w. this way there is no pipes going across the house an all pumps can be gone for showers and it will make the extension cheaper as there is less pipes going in. (No extra shower pipes) Have told him about when other people run hot water it become slower but he says they never run hot water at 2 points at the same time.

any thoughts? ?

whats the cold main dynamic pressure and flow?

i would avoid a combi tbh. if the customer does not want to pay for the best system, make sure you put it in writing that its his/her choice.

Yeah id push for unvented if you can, And like aw said get an agreement in writing if he wants anything else..

You can offer your professional advice but if he wants something else get him to sign the paper, fit it and walk away.

Or, as I do, just walk away.

Change to sealed system (if not already) and then use zone valve to put the extension on its own zone? Sounds like easiest option if I've understood you correctly and the boiler can handle the extra output.
